1. Is James T. Harris IllumiNation™ a speakers bureau?

No. We are a professional services firm that speaks, trains, educates, and consults around our core competencies of expertise. We also facilitate executive retreats, moderate panels, and emcee annual meetings and special events.

2. Then why is “public speaking” such a common theme at this web site?

Because speaking is merely the process of communicating a message, and our messages of how to “see” the reality of change in our society are so unique and impactful. Illuminating opportunities be a leader within your industry / profession over the long term has become a very popular service.

3. What are your core competencies?

(1) The implications of significant cultural and generational shifts in America
(2) Alignment of organizational processes and messages
(3) Strategic thinking

4. From your expertise in these core competencies, what is the subject matter you are best prepared to address?

Change, leadership seasoning, and workforce enhancement

5. Within these broad topics, what is your specialty?

Our competencies can be put to work in these subject areas in dozens of ways for public and private sector organizations. Common examples include: (1) Preparing executives and senior leaders to adapt to new trends; (2) Positioning organizations to “see,” prepare for, and embrace change; (3) Assessing friction points within organizations and achieving vertical and horizontal alignment for great productivity and cost efficiencies.

6. What types of organizations are you best suited to work with on a client basis?

Accomplished organizations that possess enough confidence to be the best but express enough humility to recognize areas for improvement.

7. I’m a little confused but very intrigued because I’m hearing you talk about the big picture of societal changes and the “hard core” business topics. How are these related?

As goes society, so goes your organization. Our philosophy is that societal trends and contemporary issues drive the attitudes, expectations, and behaviors of individuals in our nation. These individuals are your customers, employees, vendors, executives, and board members, who bring the reality of their existence into your building every day.

8. So how are social issues impacting organizations?

The vast differences between generations regarding social policy, government regulation, work ethic, education priorities, communication styles, leadership qualities, and consumer behaviors are precipitating massive and rapid change that most organizations are not yet equipped to deal with. That is only one example. Add in demographic shifts with ethnicity and other cultural factors and the need to better understand the “landscape of change” is more pronounced.

9. How do you practically address the diverse topics of social change and organizational development?

Our work at James T. Harris IllumiNation is divided into two major categories, with each division led by a different professional. The National Conversation highlights the practical realities of societal trends and contemporary issues. Our services for High Performance Organizations are designed to deliver solutions for accomplished entities that want to advance to even higher levels of success.

10. So is your list of topical programs just for speeches?

No. Illuminating a new subject for the first time often occurs through a motivational speech. Imparting “take away” information can best occur with our in-depth programs for training and education. In our role as consultants, we structure remedial initiatives and deploy them for measurable results. One-on-one executive coaching is professional development on a confidential basis.

11. Why should we engage your firm for in-depth services instead of larger consulting firms?

We are subject experts first, and within our area of expertise, we are second to none, so size does not matter. You either want fresh, energized, reality-based solutions or you do not. If you do, and if we share similar values, then we are the right firm for you. (Besides, larger firms must charge higher fees to cover tremendous overhead. Our fees are solely based on the market value that we provide.)

12. We have issues within our senior executive ranks and our front-line supervisors who are based throughout the U.S. Can you handle this?

Yes. We translate our program information, delivery style, and implementation plan to the audience. It is within our “sweet spot” to address issues such as change management, team building, cultural trends, diversity, etc. with seasoned leaders, the general workforce, and everyone in between.
